Large survey in the folk high school sector

poster Engage survey

What does a year at a folk high school do for the students? What significance does it have? These are the questions the ENGAGE survey aims to answer

The purpose of the project

The research project ENGAGE (Engagement, Growth and General Education in Norwegian Folk High Schools) will investigate civic engagement and participation among young people in Norway, and the significance of taking a year at a folk high school.

Who does the survey include?

All applicants to folk high schools (FHS) in Norway for the 2025/26 school year, in addition to former students who have attended FHS in any of the past three years (starting 2022, 2023, 2024), will receive an invitation to participate in the survey. Register data will also be collected for this entire group, regardless of whether individuals respond to the survey.
You can opt out of this by contacting NORCE (see information below). In addition, a small number of students (approximately 20) will be contacted to ask whether they wish to participate in individual interviews.

This comprehensive survey can provide valuable insights into the significance of attending a folk high school. We therefore hope that all our current students and students from the past three years will participate in the survey.

The eligible students will receive an SMS with a link to the survey.
