What should you pack for your folk high school year? How much is it common to bring with you, and what should you make sure not to forget in your suitcase? There are many questions to consider before moving to a completely new place.

Below is an overview of the items you should and need to bring for your year at folkehøgskole.

  • Toiletries, shampoo and any necessary medications.
  • Clothing and footwear. Bring what you need for both everyday life (mostly everyday life!) and special occasions, for both indoor and outdoor use.
  • EU/EEA citizens also have to bring health insurance card.
  • As an international student, you do not need to bring a duvet or pillow.
  • International students will also be provided with bed linen and towels
  • Outdoor equipment: sleeping bag, sleeping mat, and a daypack.
  • Rain boots and outdoor clothing.
  • Thermos flask, camping cutlery, water bottle, and lunch box.
  • A laundry basket can be useful.
  • Electronics: a laptop if you wish, as well as chargers for your phone, laptop, headset, etc.
  • Passport (valid at least until the end of November 2027).
  • Proof of travel insurance.
  • Bringing a bicycle if you want. The school also have some.
  • Feel free to bring personal items to make your room feel more homely.
  • Some courses require additional equipment. Packing lists for these courses will be sent to students by their teachers.

If you would like to bring a bicycle, the school has a secure bike garage where it can be stored safely.
