Italy

Spring trip. Italy, with just under 60 million inhabitants, is full of monuments and history.

View over Florence

This is a destination for the Checkpoint Charlie program

The Dome in Firenze

Veni, vidi, vici! I came, I saw, I conquered! These are the words Julius Caesar addressed to the Roman Senate in Rome. Now, nearly 2,000 years later, you’ll also have the chance to visit the same Senate, the Colosseum, and see archaeological excavations — including ones hidden beneath a church. We’ll take a deep dive into Roman history and understand why this empire is still talked about today.

There will also be plenty of opportunities to enjoy gelato, pasta, and pizza! We will be guided around the city and see hidden gems that not all tourists know about.

While Rome is a perfect city for anyone interested in history, that doesn’t mean we’ll stay there the whole time! We’ll also travel to Florence to wander the narrow medieval streets of Italy’s former capital and the birthplace of the Renaissance. You’ll walk the same corridors as the powerful Medici family and explore areas that once “smelled” of gold. Maybe we’ll even take a day trip to the Leaning Tower of Pisa?
